Apocalypse Road: The Essendarium – Part 2

“Welcome back to the Essendarium, the ongoing recap of the final race in the Apocalypse Road series where I will be revealing the teams of Apocalypse Road, the cars and the stories behind the game, both fictional and real. These first few articles will be covering the various teams in Apocalypse Road and possibly some background on who is behind them and how they turned out the way they did. Some of the teams still have openings for sponsorships and I will make those clear in the story. In addition I will be providing a pathway to join the Thunderverse by sponsoring a driver or a team or even a track. I do this to allow you, the fan to become a part of the game and at the same time provide a small revenue stream for Carla and myself that we use to print prototypes and attend conventions where we get more chances to interact with you. I will try to minimize these opportunities for those of you that are not interested in them. Thanks for your patience.” – Jeff Horger

While the Mountaineers were still out on the hunt, a second team arrived in the quiet Springfield suburb. “The Fist,” A close-knit group of drivers and crew led by Rolando, Son of Karl known far and wide as a rough and tumble team of wild nomads that fight and drink just almost as well as they drive. Their motto is strike hard one time and strike with the entire fist. On the track and off they tend to stay together and act in unison to drive their opponents into submission. No other team is as tightly-knit off the track as the members of the Fist.

Upon arrival their Kelly green cars and rusty parts trailers were quickly and haphazardly parked in the rear grounds. Little to no unpacking was done and quicker than lightning all but a couple of young men were off to the Harrows Pub to drink some beer and kick some butt, probably not in that order. It would be late in the morning before they returned to set up camp and began their preparations for the race.

The Fist boasts two legacy drivers. “Gentil” Petitclerc is the great grandson of Pockets Racing legend François Petitclerc, one of the top drivers in the Thunder Alley circuit many years ago. Gentil drives the teams “rabbit” car and is known as one of the fastest and hardest to hit drivers on the circuit. Gentil’s long-time family friend “Blinks” is also on the team and like Gentil also has an ancestor that previously raced in the Thunderverse. “Blinks” Blinkinsop coincidentally also drove for Pockets Racing back in the day and was a teammate and life-long friend of Petticlerc. Their close ties have bound the two together and their experience and skill has helped make The Fist one of the most skilled teams on the circuit.

As mentioned, The Fist is currently run by Rolando, son of Karl. But Rolando has announced that this is his last season at the helm and a new team owner is being actively sought. Two of the drivers, Candy Racher and Hank Puckster are also leaving the circuit after this race, so it is their farewell appearance and they have been awarded starting spots by Rolando for their years of devoted service to the team.

I would like to thank the above people for sponsoring cars in Apocalypse Road. Without them, there would be a game, but it would not be nearly as unique and interesting.

Currently The Fist does not have an owner sponsor and has one driver sponsor remaining.

If you would like to sponsor the green team for $100 you would receive the following benefits.

  • Naming Rights including Team Name, Owner Name, Team Location and Logo Input.
  • Driver Naming Rights allowing you to Name one driver and assign that driver a 1 to 3 digit ID.

If you would like to name a driver on the green team for $20 you receive the following benefit.

  • Driver Naming Rights allowing you to name one driver and assign that driver a 1 to 3 digit ID.

If this interests you, please contact Jeff Horger at jagrcz68@aol.com and we can get the ball rolling. There are other teams and drivers still available and Carla & I are happy to help all of you that want to be a part of the Thunderverse onto the team.

If you just want to play the game, we need your votes with your wallet on the GMT P500 right now. The game is ready to take that last step into completion but we need your commitments right now. Apocalypse is very close to the cut (495 orders when this was written) and we just need a handful more orders to get us over the hump. If you back it now the discount is pretty substantial ($72 down to $49) so now is the time to let your voice be heard. https://www.gmtgames.com/p-623-apocalypse-road.aspx
